Type: Fixed Term (until 30 June 2026)
Hours: Full Time
Location: Wellington
Business Group: Survivor Experiences Service
Branch: Partnerships and Commissions

Are you a proactive, detail-oriented administrator who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment?
Do you want to be part of a team making a real difference in the lives of Survivors of abuse in care?
Can you bring resilience, empathy, and initiative to a role that supports trauma-informed services?

If so, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Survivor Experiences Service

The Department of Internal Affairs’ Survivor Experiences Service provides a safe, supportive, and confidential space for Survivors of abuse in care to share their experiences and access personal records. Our work supports healing and acknowledges the importance of every story.

The Role: Team Administrator

As Team Administrator, you’ll play a vital behind-the-scenes role supporting our Survivor-facing teams. Your work will enable our kaimahi to focus fully on each Survivor interaction, knowing the logistics and admin are in expert hands.

This is a hands-on, varied role suited to someone who is independent, organised, and confident working with sensitive information in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and organisational support to managers and team members
  • Coordinate travel and accommodation for Private Sessions and Relationships teams
  • Format, print, collate, and distribute high-quality documents
  • Maintain and improve filing systems (electronic and paper-based)
  • Process referrals, manage couriering of transcripts, and support other Survivor-related activities
  • Use initiative to identify and implement process improvements
  • Be comfortable working in ambiguity and applying common sense to problem-solving

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 1 year of experience supporting dynamic teams
  • High levels of initiative, discretion, and emotional intelligence
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Willingness to work in-office 5 days a week
  • A collaborative mindset and a “how can we?” attitude

Why Join Us?

At Te Tari Taiwhenua | Department of Internal Affairs, you’ll be part of a team deeply committed to supporting Survivors and contributing to meaningful change. We value empathy, integrity, and innovation — and we’re looking for someone who shares those values.

We’re an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. If you’re excited about this opportunity but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply — we value diverse experiences and perspectives.

Applications close: 5pm, Sunday 7 September 2025
