Lifeguard | Lloyd Elsmore Park, Pool and Leisure Centre
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Our pool and leisure facilities are more popular than ever, and as Lifeguard for the Lloyd Elsmore Park Pool and Leisure Centre, you will play a key part in ensuring that all customers not only have a fantastic experience but a safe one.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Providing guidance on and supporting the delivery of aquatics-based programmes.
- General lifeguarding duties to ensure customers are safe and looked after,
- Supporting the Team Leader with day-to-day operations at the Centre."
- Supporting other function of the wider team as required
We currently have a permanent full-time position ( 40 hours ) . Our centre opens from 5am to 9:15pm during the week and 7:00 am - 7:00 pm Saturday & Sunday. The ability to work early morning, late evening, and weekends are crucial.
Shift times below:
- Sunday: 10:00-18:30
- Monday, 5:00-13:30
- Tuesday, 5:00-13:30
- Wednesday, 7:00-15:30
- Thursday, 5:00-13:30
He kōrero mōu: About you
We are looking for people of all ages who are strong swimmers, with flexibility to work multiple days.
To become a lifeguard, you'll need to hold a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate and a First Aid certificate. Don't worry, if you're a suitable candidate, we'll provide you with the necessary training at no cost. Training dates will be 22nd September to 3rd October 2025 Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm at Auckland Central and West Wave.
The first step in becoming a lifeguard for Auckland Council is to be able to pass this swim test. Please only apply for this position if you feel you can:
- Swim 200m in under 6 minutes.
- Swim 25m sidestroke.
- Swim 50m breaststroke.
- Retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool.
- Tread water for 5 minutes
In addition to your swimming skills, we're looking for individuals with proven administration and communication skills, a track record of providing outstanding customer service, and excellent maturity and reliability.
