He angitūtanga: The opportunity
As the Business Applications Technical Lead, you will support the delivery and management of a diverse portfolio of applications and technologies across a wide customer base, spanning all council departments.
You’ll work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs, strategic direction, and challenges in order to recommend and deliver effective technology solutions—while managing senior stakeholder and vendor expectations.
You will:
- Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across council frontline business applications
- Collaborate across Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and actively participate in ART ceremonies
- Participate in Agile delivery ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives
- Support end-to-end delivery including product design, solution implementation, support, and enhancement
- Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering capability uplift and professional growth across the function
- Coordinate communications and lead restoration efforts during critical incidents, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder engagement
- Support business continuity through proactive system maintenance and effective incident response planning
Familiarity with SaaS applications will be advantageous.

You’ll bring a strong foundation of technical and leadership experience, along with the ability to deliver pragmatic, future-fit solutions.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- 10+ years of experience working in an enterprise IT environment
- 5+ years in a senior technical role focused on technology engineering
- 7+ years of technical/functional experience in business applications and integration
- Advanced experience implementing and supporting complex business systems (both SaaS and on-premise)
- 3+ years working in a true Agile environment, ideally using SAFe
- A strong background in mentoring and coaching others in technical environments
- Excellent communication skills in English – both written and verbal
- Ability to work a minimum of three days per week in the central Auckland office, with the option to work remotely up to two days per week after onboarding
