The Safety Systems and Infrastructure team supports critical assets to promote the safe navigation, and the ability to respond to vessels in distress around the NZ Coast and out across our wider internationally recognised areas of responsibility. The infrastructure is made up of aids to navigation, maritime distress and safety radio, satellite local user terminal and other Search and Rescue systems.
Te tunga | The role
As Advisor Aids to Navigation & Maritime Communication you will be responsible for supporting the day to day management of the Maritime NZ aid to navigation infrastructure, distress and safety radio services and their associated contracts and agreements. You will assist in coordinating inspection and maintenance of infrastructure assets around New Zealand and oversee contractor activities, monitoring and reporting on performance and spend.
Along with your technical nouse you will be well versed in facilities management within a technical operations environment and have a natural inclination for continuous improvement. As a confident communicator you will welcome the opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with a small team of technical specialists.
Nou te rourou | What you bring
- Experience in facilities management operations, with technical operations;
- Technical and operational competencies and experience with aid to navigation and/or maritime communication services would be an advantage;
- Asset, project and contract management experience including management of complex, long-term technical contracts;
- Engineering, Facility, Maritime and or aviation qualification and/or experience an advantage.
- Skilled in the use of collaborative ICT and cloud-based tools such as Microsoft Teams and real-time collaboration tools.
- Thorough working knowledge of typical line-of-business ICT systems;
- Knowledge of emergency management principles, practice and procedures including CIMS an advantage;
- Ability to work in a culturally safe and respectful manner, always being mindful of the cultural diversity of the industry and having regard to Te Ao M ori and Treaty of Waitangi principles;
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally;
- Drivers Licence;
- Physically fit.
