Your opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Communications & Media Manager to manage our team for a period of 6 months, while our current incumbent is temporarily undertaking different responsibilities. This leadership role is be responsible for executing DairyNZ’s external corporate communications and media presence. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading media relations, corporate communications, government and stakeholder communications and crisis communications to ensure a cohesive DairyNZ story.
Reporting to the GM Corporate Affairs, you will lead the Corporate Communications & Media team including:
- Execute a comprehensive Corporate Communications Strategy aligned with DairyNZ’s strategic goals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all media inquiries and manage relationships with journalists, editors, relevant government agencies. and media outlets.
- Create compelling written content including press releases, articles, speeches, and presentations.
- Execute strategies for managing potential issues or crises that may impact the company's reputation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging.
- Lead the media team to ensure their activity across all functions is of high calibre and consistent.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Leadership team on communication strategies and crisis management.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- At least 8-10 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, media relations, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a managerial or leadership role within a communications team.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead and mentor a media and communications team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
