About the Role

The Capacity Optimisation Specialist plays a critical delivery role, responsible for developing and implementing robust planning strategies and capacity management processes across multiple business functions. This role involves analysing complex data sets, forecasting future capacity needs, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity. Working collaboratively with key digital operations kaimahi and both internal and external stakeholders, the specialist supports data-driven decision-making through the creation of predictive models, scenario planning, and performance metrics. The role is integral to driving continuous optimisation and ensuring process and technology are effectively aligned with organisational demands.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Capacity Optimisation Specialist sits within Infrastructure Design team, part of the Digital Operations function under the wider Digital Services Group. Reporting into the Group Manager Infrastructure Design, this team plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic planning and optimisation of Health NZ's digital infrastructure. The purpose of Infrastructure Design is to develop and maintain comprehensive blueprints and plans that provide a clear infrastructure pathway to support organisational strategies. This includes delivering national frameworks that enable the modernisation of digital infrastructure across Health NZ. Following the devolution of architecture and design functions for digital infrastructure into Digital Operations, the team ensures cohesive and forward-looking infrastructure planning aligned with the evolving needs of the organisation.

About you

You are a seasoned digital leader with a strong technical foundation and a passion for driving system reliability and performance. You bring a strategic mindset, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to equity and innovation in healthcare. As a leader, you inspire cross-functional teams to adopt observability best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement. You will also have the following skills and experience to support your success in the role:

  • ICT/Technology professional with proven experience in developing and implementing planning strategies, capacity management processes, and optimisation initiatives across multiple business functions.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in IT or related leadership roles.
  • At least 1 year of experience developing predictive models, scenario planning, and performance metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Skilled in analysing complex data sets, forecasting future capacity needs, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Demonstrated ability to support Digital Operations in adapting to evolving technology, process, and business requirements.
  • Ability to translate business demand into impacts across the infrastructure platforms and processes.
