About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
Role Overview
You will be the principal architect embedded in a multi-year digital-transformation programme for a large international customer. Working with product squads and exec sponsors, you will blueprint, evangelise and govern Azure-first, micro-services-based solutions—while steering DevOps, application modernisation, security and cost-optimisation best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute towards end-to-end Azure solution architecture (landing zones, micro-services, event streaming, data platforms) for mission-critical workloads.
- Define domain-driven designs, API contracts and integration patterns that enable high-throughput, high-availability and global scale.
- Promote DevOps, GitOps and IaC (Terraform/Bicep) pipelines; champion automated testing, blue/green deployments and FinOps disciplines.
- Facilitate architecture workshops with C-suite, product owners, delivery partners and offshore teams; provide technical governance through sprint reviews and release gates.
- Mentor senior engineers and junior architects; share patterns, code samples and POVs through Theta guilds and lunch-and-learns.
Essential:
- Hands-on track-record designing cloud-native, micro-services or event-driven systems on Microsoft Azure for large enterprises (5k+ users, multi-region).
- Fluency in containerisation and modern API-management; comfortable guiding teams that use orchestration platforms without necessarily being the in-depth Kubernetes expert.
- Strong software-architecture background (DDD, REST/GraphQL, messaging), with solid grounding in infrastructure, networking and security.
- Outstanding client-facing skills—able to simplify complexity for non-technical execs and inspire engineering squads.
- Knowledge of Zero-Trust security, DevSecOps and FinOps.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect or DevOps Expert; familiarity with AKS or other orchestrators advantageous but not mandatory.
