He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Tātaki Auckland Unlimited delivers some of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s most iconic cultural festivals, including the Auckland Lantern Festival, Pasifika Festival, and the Moana Ocean Festival. We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Content Specialist to join our Content & Channels team and play a key role in celebrating the vibrant cultures, stories, and communities of our city.

In this role, you will be responsible for creating, managing, and optimising content across our key digital platforms - including festival websites, social media channels, and eDMs - ensuring they are engaging, accessible, and reflective of each festival’s unique identity. You will work closely with the marketing, communications, and social media teams to deliver campaigns that connect with diverse audiences and inspire attendance and participation.

While the primary focus will be on delivering digital content for Tātaki Auckland Unlimited’s major cultural festivals, you may also support wider Content & Channels team projects as required.

This role includes rostered on-site and on-call work during live festival weekends, to support website updates from the Major Events team. Based on a 40-hour week, hours will be flexibly spread across weekdays and live festival weekends, depending on requirements.

In a typical day, you will:

  • Manage and update festival websites, ensuring content is accurate, optimised, and aligned with campaign timelines.
  • Plan, create, and schedule engaging campaigns for social media channels, in collaboration with festival marketing and social media teams.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of digital content, using analytics to inform strategy.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to deliver high-quality assets and campaigns.
  • Ensure all content meets accessibility, SEO, and brand guidelines.
  • Stay across emerging trends, tools, and opportunities in digital content and social media.

You’ll have:

  • 3–4 years’ experience in a digital content, social media, or marketing role.
  • Experience managing and updating websites using CMS platforms.
  • Strong understanding of social media strategy, including paid and organic campaigns.
  • Ability to analyse data (e.g. Google Analytics, META Business Suite) and translate insights into actionable improvements.
  • Excellent written and visual communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences and platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and cultural contexts.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm to work both on-site and on-call during live festival weekends, with hours rostered in line with a 40-hour working week.
