Moutere Hills Restaurant and Cellar Door are looking for an assistant restaurant manager to join the team from now until our annual winter closure in July 2026.
We are based in the Upper Moutere region in a beautiful vineyard setting. The restaurant is open for lunch currently 5 days a week with just one dinner service on a Friday night, and some busy and exciting functions already locked in for the coming months. Summer hours are 6 days with one dinner service.
The cellar door serves wines straight from the vineyard and has a large range for guests to try before heading to the restaurant for lunch so a basic wine knowledge is preferable.

Current operating days are Wednesday to Sunday with very competitive pay for the right candidate, summer is Tuesday to Sunday.

Working Holiday Visas accepted but ideally looking for long term candidates. LCQ/Managers certificate essential as well as barista skills.
This role will be supporting one working owner in the business along with other staff, you must be an all rounder in hospitality, cocktails and mocktails, know your piccolo from your espresso, meringue or Italian meringue, able to communicate well between the front of house and back of house.
As assistant restaurant manager you will help manage all that happens front of house.
You will ensure that customers receive excellent service and that the front-of-house runs smoothly.
Responsibilities include but are not limited too:
- Assist to manage the front-of-house team, including servers, hosts, bartenders, and custodial staff
- Ensure that every service gives the customer the best experience possible, every time.
- Ensure that hygiene and safety rules are followed
- Organize work and schedule working hours
- Manage the bookings, including taking reservations and responding to customer inquiries (Experience of booking systems advantageous)
