We are urgently looking for an experienced Lead Data Consultant to join our Data and Insights Practice to take your consulting career to the next level - in a team that values excellence and balance.
This is a senior, client-facing role in which you will be expected to provide thought leadership within Theta and to our customers.
You’ll work closely with customers to understand their challenges, shape modern data solutions, and lead their successful delivery – often across Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric environments.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, multi-client environments and enjoys being both strategic and hands-on.
We are open to considering applications from those located in Auckland, Wellington or Tauranga.

What You’ll Do
- Engage with customers as a trusted advisor, helping to shape their data strategies and solution roadmaps.
- Lead and deliver end-to-end modern data projects across public and private sector clients.
- Design scalable, future-ready architectures using tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or similar.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across data engineering, analytics, cloud, and governance.
- Contribute to pre-sales and solution design in partnership with delivery and sales leads.
- Provide mentoring and technical leadership to other consultants in the team.
What You’ll Bring
- Significant consulting experience, ideally in a data or analytics-focused consultancy or professional services environment.
- A strong portfolio of successfully delivered data projects across different industries or clients.
- Deep technical skills in at least one of the following technologies - Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric
- Broad knowledge of data engineering, cloud and data architecture, analytics, and data governance best practices.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A delivery mindset – able to balance pragmatism and quality to get results.
- A passion for mentoring others and contributing to a high-performance team culture.
