About the Role

Are you passionate about shaping the future of Medical Imaging? Join Te Toka Tumai Radiology as a Clinical Practicum Supervisor, collaborating with the University of Auckland and Unitec to deliver an exceptional clinical placement experience for Student Medical Imaging Technologists (MITs).

In this vital role, you will provide expert teaching, coaching, and mentorship to MIT students. You will be the bridge between education providers and clinical teams, ensuring students receive supportive, high-quality training that prepares them for a rewarding career in medical imaging.

  • Coordinate student clinical placements across Greenlane, Auckland City Hospital, and Starship Children’s Hospital
  • Provide hands-on clinical teaching, supervision, and mentoring to students throughout their training
  • Foster a positive, culturally safe learning environment that embraces the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Support and coach clinical staff in their roles as student supervisors, enhancing the quality of education delivery
  • Collaborate closely with clinical teams and education partners to address student progress, professionalism, and wellbeing
  • Act as a role model of clinical excellence, professionalism, and ethical practice
  • Participate in quality initiatives and continuous improvement of clinical education programs

About you

  • Registered Medical Imaging Technologist (MIT) with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with at least 5 years post-graduate clinical experience.
  • At least 2-3 years supervising and teaching students or clinical staff.
  • Strong commitment to biculturalism and achieving equitable health outcomes for Māori.
  • Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles and evidence-based practice.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and manage change effectively.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a large acute hospital setting.
  • Background in clinical audit and translating evidence into practice.
  • Experience with assessment tools, outcome measures, and service improvement.
