About the Role
The Operational Team Leader Technician is a frontline leadership role, primarily based in the Inpatient Dispensary, where you'll lead by example while remaining hands-on in service delivery
As the Operational Team Lead – Pharmacy Technician, you will:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and coordination of the Inpatient Pharmacy Technician team
- Ensure safe, efficient delivery of services across rosters (including weekends, public holidays, and offsite services)
- Ensure compliance with professional pharmacy standards and legislative requirements
- Coach and mentor technicians, lead training and credentialing processes, and contribute to professional development across the team
- Coordinate and contribute to internal audits, SOP development, incident investigations, and continuous improvement projects
- Actively participate in operational pharmacy rosters including weekends and public holidays

About you
You’ll bring strong leadership, a commitment to excellence, and a passion for developing others. You will also have:
- NZQA Level 6 National Certificate in Pharmacy (Technicians)
- At least 4 years hospital-based operational pharmacy experience, including leadership or mentoring roles
- Strong understanding of New Zealand’s Pharmacy Services Standard
- Proven experience in mentoring, coaching, and training pharmacy technicians
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to quality, teamwork and professionalism
- Highly developed organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure and use initiative to solve problems
