About the role
This is an opportunity to join our Cargo Handling Team as a P32. Our P32's support our Container Terminal Operations team, ensuring we maintain full staffing in an environment where shipping volumes can fluctuate. If you are interested in a long-term career at LPC, this is a great starting point as there are opportunities for progression.
As a P32 you are a permanent employee at LPC and are guaranteed a minimum of four (8 hour) shifts per week. We are a 24/7 operation, working in all weather conditions, across 3 rotating shifts. The roster is a 4 week rotating roster with set days off per week. Our facilities are outstanding, with a large employee café area, lockers, drying room, TV lounge and cooking facilities.
You are well-rewarded for your work. The rate of pay is from $40.50 per hour. Additionally, there are night shift allowances, plus up to 8% superannuation and a weekly medical insurance subsidy. There are additional benefits as you continue to train and develop your specific Cargo Handling skills.
Prior experience in the shipping, maritime or logistics industry is advantageous but not essential.
Specific duties include:
- Lashing Containers on Vessels
- Driving our Straddle Carriers
With opportunities to learn additional skills as demand allows.
To be successful in this role you will need to:
- Be reliable, flexible, and able to work hours over a 24/7 working week
- Have a current, clean, Class 1 Driver licence
- A current Class 2 Driver licence is preferred but not essential
- Be physically fit and able to carry out repetitive heavy lifting tasks
- Be capable and comfortable working at heights and above or around water
- Be a team player who is committed to safety and taking care of their workmates
- Be an effective and clear communicator and be able to take instruction both in person and over radio communications.
