Our Opportunity:

Our Procurement Team is going from strength to strength as we focused on all thing's within electricity generation. We have a great role available to continue to support our vision of delivering world class procurement here at Mercury.

In this tactically created role, you will collaborate with the Category Manager and Senior Procurement Specialist to uphold effective business procurement and contract processes. You'll take ownership for the full administration and effectiveness of our processes, data capturing and ensuring consistent process. As Procurement Specialist you'll play a crucial role in proving a positive impact through sourcing, contract management, and continuous improvement.

The Procurement team is looking for a dynamic individual, who is keen to support the implementation of best practice procurement through their existing Procurement skills. We will support your development with the opportunities to tackle new challenges, supportive leadership, and training. This role has the flexibility to be based at any of our North Island sites/offices, including Hamilton, Waikato River sites and Rotorua (excluding our Auckland office).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting users in optimising procurement decisions
  • Providing support and guidance in PO closeout, while executing sourcing initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Category Manager and Senior Procurement Specialist on contract renewals and sourcing processes
  • Carry out procurement planning and execution in line with identified positive outcomes
  • Support implementation of inventory process and enhancements

We are looking for:

  • Relevant procurement experience in an industrial environment in the same or similar role, e.g. Sourcing Specialist, Procurement Officer,
  • Proven experience in procurement, and tendering, preferably in a maintenance and operational industry
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail
