Medical Receptionist – Permanent –64 Hours rostered over a 14 day fortnight

The Pegasus Health 24 Hour Surgery (24HS), a division of Pegasus Health, is committed to providing high quality, 24 hour urgent medical and accident care to the people of Canterbury in our facility at 401 Madras Street.
Our reception team have provided front-line services for Cantabrians for over 35 years, we are proud to deliver high quality customer service 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Ko tāu ake mahi | What you will be doing
Working as part of a committed team of receptionists you will be the first-point of contact for all of our patients as they arrive at the 24HS. You will meet customer service needs with an understanding of equitable outcomes within the healthcare sector. You will:
- Provide excellent customer service by welcoming patients; demonstrating your interpersonal and communication skills
- Undertake data entry and other administrative duties including ACC claims, digital filing and banking.
- Book appointments and co-ordination of house visits
- Conduct identity verification, taking payments and invoicing
This position will work a range of shifts over a 24/7 working window (including public holidays) the shifts are broken down into (Day/Evening/Night).

- Ability to handle a busy work environment and work effectively at a fast pace whilst remaining calm under pressure
- A sound cultural awareness and sensitivity towards patients and their families
- Highly developed organization, time management, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent computer and keyboard skills and an ability to learn new systems quickly
- Fast thinker who can effectively problem solve and is solutions focused
- Demonstrates empathy and the ability to connect with different types of people
- An understanding of the confidential nature of healthcare
- Experience using Indicic would be an advantage
- A fun positive personality who enjoys working in a team environment and supporting their peers
