Oji Fibre Solutions (OjiFS) we produce premium bleached and unbleached market kraft pulps - sustainably sourced from New Zealand grown, exotic plantation Pinus radiata. OjiFS bleached and unbleached pulps are used to make various printing and writing paper grades, building materials as well as hygiene, packaging, and specialty products. Our pulp enables customers to innovate and develop new products made with cellulose fibre.
We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Safety & Risk Manager to lead our Health, Safety & Risk (HSR) team.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Safety & Risk Manager position is an integral part of the Mill Lead Team (MLT) and is responsible for overseeing the HSR Management Strategy for our Major Hazard Facility. With the support of the General Manager and Lead Team colleagues, you will lead the business unit to drive a high standard of understanding and compliance in all HSR areas including overseeing our critical Safety Case.
As a true Trusted Partner, you will work closely with the management of operational business units across the Mill, using your influence and persuasion to inspire a strong safety culture across the business. Your passion for preventative H&S management will be crucial to embedding best practices at every level of the organisation and ensuring we maintain the standard of “Safely Home, Everyday”.
Key accountabilities of the role include:
- Strategic & Operational Management - drive continuous improvement initiatives; drive high standard of compliance with internal, legal and WorkSafe requirements
- People Leadership - lead and develop the Safety & Risk team, providing coaching to achieve outstanding results
- Workplace engagement – increase workforce engagement through collaboration
- Stakeholder Satisfaction - build and deliver customer centred solutions to improve the service, positioning the team as a trusted partner across the Mill
- Delivery – delivery on the safety improvement plan and governance requirements
- Drive Change – challenging outdated practices, influence positive change and bringing fresh perspectives to Safety & Risk
- Expert Technical Advice– provide high-level guidance on complex safety and risk management issues
About you:
You will have proven experience in either a manufacturing or high-risk environment, ensuring compliance with H&S regulations and guidelines. Having a proactive and hands-on approach to Health, Safety & Risk, with a relentless drive to improve safety culture will ensure you are successful in meeting the key accountabilities for this position.
Your knowledge of HSWA 2015 coupled with your relevant qualification will be key with ensuring you are seen as the subject matter expert within this field.
