We are seeking a skilled Senior Payroll Advisor to join our dynamic finance team. As a Senior Payroll Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our organization. This is a permanent role. The salary band for this role is $108,140 - $120,160 depending on relevant skills and experience of the candidate.

You will have a broad generalist background in a similar Senior Advisory role, with sound knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation. You will have a "can do" attitude and be passionate about creating and building connections across all levels of the organisation. You will be practical and logical; you don't shy away from tricky conversations and thrive working 'in the grey'. Delivering professional, timely service is important to you. You love to get involved and support the team, taking an active role and contributing to the culture of our team.
We are open to both external applicants and secondments from other government departments.

- Processing payroll accurately and on time, including calculations, deductions, and payments.
- Maintaining payroll records and employee data in compliance with confidentiality and privacy requirements.
- Resolving payroll-related queries from employees and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
- Assisting with payroll audits, reconciliations, and compliance activities.
- Keeping up to date with relevant payroll legislation and best practices.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth payroll processes.
- Providing payroll-related support and guidance to HR and Finance teams as needed.

- Proven experience as a Senior Payroll Advisor or in a similar payroll administration role.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll systems, processes, and legislation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
- Proficiency in using payroll software and MS Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills to interact with employees and stakeholders.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.
- Prior experience with HRIS systems (desirable).
