We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Payroll Advisor to join our People Operations team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. If you’re passionate about payroll, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy working collaboratively, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

As one of our Senior Payroll Advisors, you will lead and support the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring our team is paid accurately and on time. You will also provide expert payroll advice across the business and contribute to broader people operations initiatives and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead fortnightly pay runs, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Process and verify payroll changes with appropriate approvals
  • Reconcile PAYE and monitor IRD activity
  • Manage ACC cases and liaise with payroll system vendors
  • Provide expert payroll advice to employees, leaders, and the People team
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity and deliver ad hoc reporting
  • Drive payroll and HRIS improvements and contribute to related projects
  • Support People Operations and deliver payroll system training

  • Proven experience in a complex payroll environment within a medium to large organisation
  • Deep understanding of payroll processes, calculations, and employment legislation
  • Experience with payroll systems (JadeStar preferred) and HRIS platforms (Cornerstone/People Hub)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • High level of discretion and commitment to confidentiality
