About the Role
The Senior Delivery Manager plays a key role in advancing Health New Zealand's strategic priorities by ensuring the delivery excellence of large and complex technology projects. The role is responsible for leading delivery teams and overseeing the end-to-end implementation of projects, ensuring that changes required to deliver project outcomes are successfully achieved. Working closely with project managers, development teams, and stakeholders, the Senior Delivery Manager ensures comprehensive delivery plans are developed and executed effectively, and that delivery teams are well led and managed. This role ensures the effective inception, scoping, planning, mobilisation, and execution of projects within a diverse technology environment that supports multiple users and business-critical applications across New Zealand.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Senior Delivery Manager is part of the Digital Operations function under the wider Digital Services group, reporting to the Manager Delivery Management. This function is responsible for operating, optimising, and modernising the digital infrastructure of Health New Zealand, which is considered nationally critical infrastructure. The primary mission of Digital Operations is to ensure the effective operation of digital systems and services within public hospitals, supporting the delivery of care through reliable and resilient clinical systems. The function also serves a broader purpose across community, consumer, and corporate services, actively managing the lifecycle of digital infrastructure, directing investment to agreed priorities, and driving national roadmaps and standards. By raising underlying capabilities across the regions, Digital Operations plays a pivotal role in supporting Health New Zealand's commitment to providing high-quality, equitable health services nationwide.
About you
As an experienced delivery leader, you'll excel at managing complex projects and leading high-performing teams. You will bring strengths in strategic planning, business analysis, and risk management, ensuring projects are delivered effectively. You communicate well and build strong relationships with stakeholders to support the delivery of critical services. You will also have the following skills and experience to support your success in the role:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in project management, program management, or delivery management within a complex technology environment.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex technology projects or programs.
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
