Are you a seasoned HR professional with strong expertise in Employee Relations (ER) and ready for your next challenge? Following internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior HR Generalist to join our People & Culture team based in Christchurch.

This role is instrumental in supporting our people, leaders, and the wider business by providing high-quality, pragmatic HR advice, particularly in complex ER matters. You'll play a key role in delivering our people strategies and initiatives, aligning them with Tait's values and strategic direction.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with people leaders to provide end-to-end HR support across the employee lifecycle
  • Leading and managing employment relations issues with confidence, ensuring legal compliance and practical outcomes
  • Offering expert advice on complex ER cases, disciplinary matters, performance concerns and investigations
  • Supporting the implementation of engagement, wellbeing, and culture initiatives
  • Leading and contributing to HR projects and continuous improvement activities
  • Coaching and mentoring people leaders to build capability and confidence in people leadership
  • Supporting delivery of core HR processes including talent management, remuneration, and workforce planning

Ō pūkenga - About You

To thrive in this role, you'll have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant HR experience, with a strong track record in Employee Relations.

You will also bring:

  • Demonstrated success in managing complex ER matters in a large or technical organizations
  • In-depth knowledge of NZ employment legislation, case law, and ER best practices
  • Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills across all levels of an organization
  • Confidence to navigate ambiguity and deliver effective, people-focused solutions
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to coach our people leaders
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
