Auckland, Auckland
Full time

Ready to chase the sun with Suncorp? Here’s your chance to do just that – every single day.

Join one of Australia and New Zealand’s leading general insurance groups and be part of a purpose-driven team that’s here to build futures and protect what matters – for our customers, our communities, and for each other.

We’re offering a rare opportunity to join our dynamic and supportive External Reporting & Tax team at Suncorp New Zealand in a senior tax role that combines technical expertise, strategic advisory, and real business impact.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the business meets its tax obligations while delivering high-quality advisory services that support decision-making and innovation. This role will see you working closely with leaders across Finance and the wider business, as well as key external stakeholders.

You’ll apply your deep technical knowledge to a wide range of tax issues – from compliance and reporting, to advising on major projects, cross-border transactions, and new product development. You’ll also mentor junior team members and help strengthen our internal tax capabilities through knowledge sharing and training.

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a visible and influential role where your expertise will directly contribute to our continued success.

About You:

We’re looking for someone who brings more than just technical ability — you’re proactive, adaptable, and a great communicator who enjoys working with others to solve complex problems.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • A Commerce and/or Law degree (mandatory)
  • CA or CPA membership (desired)
  • 4+ years’ experience in tax (professional services, corporate, or Inland Revenue)
  • Strong technical tax knowledge and the ability to apply it in a commercial context
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to influence and build relationships
  • Exceptional communication and analytical skills
  • High attention to detail and proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

What we offer:

  • Free life, salary continuance and trauma insurance cover
  • Discounts on Vero and Southern Cross medical insurance
  • Flexible leave of up to four days per year in addition to annual leave
  • Positive, inclusive team environment where we welcome individuality and celebrate diversity
  • Flexible work arrangements embracing a healthy work/life balance
  • $250 annually for gym membership or hobbies
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities
  • Opportunity to join the employee share plan

About Us:

We’re proud to be part of the Suncorp Group—home to some of Australia and New Zealand’s most trusted names in insurance. Together, we deliver faster, simpler, and better outcomes for our customers and partners. Our commitment to strong, supportive partnerships extends to our people, with opportunities and support to help you thrive in your career.

At Suncorp we believe we are our best when our workforce is as diverse, talented and passionate as the communities in which we live and operate, and where our people feel included, valued and connected.
