About the opportunity
We’re currently seeking a technically minded and customer-focused Tool Maintenance Technician to join our Equipment Reliability Maintenance Team on the Afternoon Shift (4:00pm – 12:00am, Thursday to Monday).
To set you up for success, this role includes a training period of 6–9 months on the Day Shift (7:30am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday).
In this important position your primary role will be to ensure the completion of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all Production Mould Tools and accessories.
Here, you'll be involved with maintenance, diagnosis and repair of Injection Moulding Mould Tools assets and share your ideas forward on how to improve overall operation productivity and processes in a large manufacturing environment, up to providing inputs to the design of future Mould Tools.
This is a hands-on role requiring a mechanical or electrical trade or technical person to ensure processes are followed in the maintaining of equipment, to diagnose & repair unscheduled stoppages in an efficient timely manner & to support improvement programmes to enhance overall operation productivity.
In this position, you will not only be involved on the maintenance side, but you have the opportunity to work with the Plastics Moulding Team in diagnostics and repair of Mould Tools critical components.
You will also support;
- Breakdown Maintenance
- Electrical Safety Checks and Electrical Wiring of Hot Runner Systems in Mould Tools
- New mould tool trial
- Liaise with external Tool Makers for repairs support and spare parts
- Machining of spare parts and consumables for Mould Tools
About you
Qualifications & Skills:
- Must have 2 years of relevant work experience
- NZ Trade Certificate or equivalent in Tool Maker Trade and or Mechanical (preferred)
- Engineering qualification with machining skillsets in Manual Lathe & Mill and CNC operation experience (preferred)
- Current Electrical Service Technician (EST) License (preferred)
- Must be able to interpret basic pneumatic and hydraulic schematics and mechanical specifications (preferred)
- Be Competent in Hydraulic diagnostic of various hydraulic based equipment (preferred)
- Logical and practical approach to fault finding and problem solving with a strong customer focus.
- Outstanding communication skills and a team player with the ability to work unsupervised to a given timeframe.
- Attention to detail, Customer Service oriented, good organizational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
- Minimum Computer skills - competent in word and excel.

This is a full-time, permanent position (40 hour week) with a hour rate from $36.19. The role is based in our Auckland office in Highbrook Drive in East Tamaki.
