Job Description

He angituutanga: The opportunity

Reporting to the Data and Insights Lead, this position will maintain and improve asset data for the organisation through data capture, analysis, and reporting to enable smarter decision-making.

Working collaboratively across the group, you will be responsible for creating, managing, and developing asset databases for Council assets (excluding water assets managed by the Waters Infrastructure Information team). This relates to data across the lifecycle of the asset – from planning, creation, capitalisation, operations, and disposal.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Timely and accurate capitalisation of projects to create reliable and fit-for-purpose asset data.
  • Monitor and report on capital work in progress (WIP) for the organisation.
  • Support the asset revaluation process and prepare accurate and complete information for revaluations.
  • Extract, manipulate and present data so it is fit-for-purpose for processes such as asset revaluation and asset planning.
  • Provide day-to-day asset management information support and training to others across the group.
  • Support and coach others across the group to improve data completeness and confidence.
  • Improve the quality and accessibility of business data and processes.
  • Assist with the implementation of upgrades and enhancements to information systems as required.

Qualifications

  • A graduate level qualification or equivalent experience, with transferable skills to deliver the outcomes of this position, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • A high level of computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills.
  • A high degree of self-motivation, a positive attitude, and a collaborative style of working.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team or autonomously.
  • Experience working with financial data, information systems, data management, and/or asset management functions.
  • Ideally, experience in asset management systems and maintaining asset data.
  • Preferably, experience in operating GIS and maintaining spatial data.
