Mo te turanga | About the role

Are you passionate about systems design and driving real change? Do you thrive at the intersection of technology, analysis, and practical delivery? Play a pivotal role in shaping the systems that support conservation efforts across Aotearoa.

As our new Asset System Improvement Advisor, you'll be responsible for maintaining and delivering improvements to DOC's Asset System - a critical platform that underpins how we manage conservation infrastructure and operations.

This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on design and delivery. You'll collaborate with stakeholders and users across the country to ensure our systems are intuitive, practical, and aligned with best practices in design thinking, data management, and operational effectiveness.

The position will:

  • Lead or support the design and delivery of improvements to DOC's Asset System using research-driven methodologies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create user-friendly, practical system guidance and improvements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for operational system enhancements and best-practice initiatives.
  • Deliver training and support to embed improvements across DOC teams.
  • Stay up to date with new technologies and trends to ensure DOC's systems remain future-focused and effective.

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:

  • Solid understanding of research, analysis, and design principles (tertiary degree-level or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience with BPMN, ARIS, SAP, and data management systems
  • Knowledge of DOC's regulatory and operations systems is highly advantageous
  • Skilled in identifying and managing risks across systems and operations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a talent for insightful advice
  • Project management skills with a track record of delivering on time and to standard

The Asset Management Unit provides an effective and integrated asset management system across the Department's recreational, historic and biodiversity assets.

The team works closely with their regional planning colleagues around the country.

The salary range for this position is $79,656.00 - $100,639.00 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
