Position Description

Ata whakaarohia tō āpōpō | Imagine Tomorrow with Us
At Te Mātāpuna Fonterra, we want everyone to feel they can be themselves.

Whether you're early in your career or ready for your next step, Fonterra offers a unique opportunity to grow with a global dairy co-operative that values care, collaboration and contribution.

Owned by New Zealand dairy farmers and supported by a dedicated team, we are all working together to create a better future. Imagine tomorrow with us, where your career can grow, and you can create positive change.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About the opportunity
Are you ready to lead the digital transformation of engineering at one of New Zealand's most iconic companies? Fonterra is on the lookout for a forward-thinking BIM Manager to champion the use of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and cutting-edge digital technologies across our projects, assets and operations.

In this pivotal role, you'll be the driving force behind our digital engineering strategy - enhancing collaboration, visibility and control across project execution. From document control and cloud-based coordination to contractor management and data handover, you'll help shape how we deliver smarter, faster and more efficiently.

As the subject matter expert, you'll lead the development and implementation of Fonterra's AD&I Technology Roadmap and a bold 5-Year Goal Plan to embed BIM workflows. Your work will deliver measurable improvements in project quality and efficiency, while aligning with our long-term engineering vision.

This is more than a job - it's a chance to make a lasting impact on how we build the future. Join a team that values innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement and help us create a more connected, data-driven future for Fonterra.

Key Responsibilities:
As BIM Manager, you'll be at the heart of Fonterra's digital transformation journey - leading initiatives that shape how we manage and deliver engineering projects. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Championing BIM and digital engineering across projects, assets and operations to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Leading the development and implementation of Fonterra's Information Management Framework (IMF), ensuring alignment with global standards such as ISO19650 and PAS1192.
  • Overseeing governance of Common Data Environments (CDEs) and SharePoint platforms, promoting standardisation and best practices.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders - including contractors, consultants and technology providers - to support Fonterra's long-term digital aspirations.
  • Delivering impactful communications and training, keeping stakeholders informed and building capability across the organisation.
Mōu | About you
You're a BIM leader with a passion for innovation, data and delivering real-world impact. You understand the power of information and how it can transform compliance, performance and project outcomes. With a strong foundation in BIM and digital technologies, you bring:
  • 5-10 years' experience in BIM management, project information management and operations or manufacturing design - ideally within the food and beverage industry.
  • Proven experience in tools like BIM360, ProCore and a deep understanding of standards such as ISO 19650 and PAS 1192.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels - internally and externally.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex initiatives on time and to standard.
  • A solid grasp of data and analytics, with the ability to interrogate and report on data from multiple sources.
  • Confidence in coaching and capability-building, helping others adopt best practices in digital design and information management.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification with Autodesk Certified Professional or similar credentials considered a strong advantage.
If you're ready to lead boldly, think digitally, and shape the future of engineering at Fonterra, we'd love to hear from you.
