Are you starting out in your career or looking for an entry level opportunity to work on the port that provides potential for career progression? For the right candidate C3 can offer initial work as a Log Scaler/Measurer that could lead to more skilled work in the future, such as; driving heavy log loading machinery, learning how the log yard works as well as vessel planning.
Previous experience is not required as full training is provided. The Checkpoint where the Log Scalers work is located at the port and is a facility where logging trucks come to have their logs measured and ticketed ready for export. The Log Scaler “scales” or measures every log using scanning technology, then barcodes the log and scans it into our system so that every single log can be tracked wherever it is.
The Checkpoint is a team environment where the safety of our staff is paramount. The Checkpoint normally operates between the hours of 0600am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday, with the occasional Saturday shift required. Shifts can be from 8-11 hours in length per day, however when we are busy the shifts can be a little longer, but ultimately you need to be flexible with working hours as shift times can vary. A minimum of 30 hours per week is available.
You will be the kind of person who likes to be accurate when taking measurements, with good attention to detail. You will also enjoy communicating with truck drivers and members of your team. This is an active outdoor role that requires you to meet deadlines and also be ok standing on your feet for most of your shift. You will also be confident operating scanning equipment and preferably hold a full class 1 licence. A keen willingness to learn, follow instructions and the motivation to do a good job to advance yourself are key qualities that we require to advance yourself in this role.
