Pact is looking for full time Community Support Workers for our Access & Choice and Community Outreach services in Wellington
The roles
We have 2 roles available. One is within the Access & Choice service, the primary purpose of the Community Support Worker role is to work actively in partnership with a Health Improvement Practitioner (Registered Clinician), and along with the rest of the General Practice team to assist patients with health challenges to improve their general wellbeing. This role has a service development component and is an exciting opportunity to be part of a positive new initiative in primary health. The other role is within the Hutt Mental Health Community Mobile & Outreach service.
We are looking for people with a passion to work alongside clients recovering from mental illness. You must be understanding, observant, non-judgemental and easily adaptable to a dynamic environment. We are seeking someone who will inspire, be a role model have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate resilience, integrity and professionalism. Your role will include promoting the well-being of clients, maintaining a therapeutic environment and supporting clients to achieve independence.
The successful candidate of the Access & Choice service will work within the general practice to help patients to gain the knowledge, skills, tools and confidence to become active participants in their own care so that they can reach their self-identified goals. This will include but is not limited to identifying and assisting people with gaining social, health, education, whanau and cultural reconnection, motivating them to make positive lifestyle and wellbeing changes, managing stress and reducing high risk behaviours. The role will involve working partly with patients individually in 30 minute appointments within the general practice and involves partly working supporting people in the community.
Hours at present are: 80 Hours per fortnight
No qualifications needed, however there will be an expectation that you will be willing to start working towards obtaining a level 4 mental health qualification after your first year of employment. You must be an energetic, lively person who wants what’s best for those around them. Previous professional experience in the mental health field will be an advantage.
- A full driver’s licence as you will be expected to drive clients when needed
- Computer skills are essential
- If on a work visa, this must be valid for at least 12 months
