Job Description - Data Engineer
We're on the hunt for a talented and enthusiastic Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a crucial role where you'll be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining our core data infrastructure. You'll ensure our data is not only accessible and reliable but also primed and ready for in-depth analysis. You'll work collaboratively with our Business Improvement Specialists, GIS Lead and Activity Manager, and other key stakeholders, directly contributing to the success of our cutting-edge Unified Data Platform. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of a new unified data platform using the latest technologies.
Key Responsibilities
As our Data Engineer, you'll:
- Contribute to the design and implementation of effective data visualisation tools, turning data into actionable insights for decision-makers.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, seamlessly integrating data from diverse sources.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to truly understand data requirements and deliver exceptional data solutions.
- Implement and monitor data quality checks to guarantee the integrity and reliability of our data.
- Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for all data processes, architectures, and standards.
- Work closely with the GIS Lead to support and integrate spatial data.
- Work collaboratively with Business Improvement Specialists to support stakeholders in their data visualisation needs.
- Stay ahead of the curve, keeping up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices in data engineering and analytics.
We're looking for someone with:
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused role.
- Proficiency in key programming languages such as Python and SQL
- Hands-on experience with data warehousing solutions and ETL tools.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, data lakes, and data warehouses would be a significant advantage.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a keen eye for detail.
