This is a new role created to coordinate the development, maintenance, and support of AUT's first Research Data Repository and the Library's open collections software. You'll work with colleagues across AUT to ensure research data is preserved, discoverable, and that the data repository enables policy, ethical, and funder compliance.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Development, you will engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including researchers, Library teams, ICT, the Research Office, the Graduate Research School, the Ethics Office, vendors, and open-source communities. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative, agile, and values-driven environment while shaping a service that supports AUT's research excellence.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of AUT's Research Data Repository and open collections software.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of repository software, workflows, and integrations.
  • Troubleshoot complex software issues; implement solutions or escalate to the vendor.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and ICT professionals.
  • Produce internal guidelines and documentation for repository use.

Skills and experience

You will bring:

  • Mandatory: A recognised, relevant undergraduate degree.
  • 3-5 years' relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with institutional/data repositories (admin, support, development).
  • Experience with open collections software in academia, including open-source communities, support vendors, and integrated systems/APIs (e.g., REST, OAI-PMH).
  • Knowledge of open access research repository trends, issues, and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse clients and academic staff.
  • Well-developed cognitive, research, and organisational skills, including analysis, planning, high-standard document preparation, and time management.
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori Data Sovereignty in a research context, or willingness to learn.
