About the role
The Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand is seeking a Digital Architect to contribute to the design of our digital systems. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in modernising the systems that underpin aviation safety and security across Aotearoa.
The starting salary for the Digital Architect within Corporate Services Group is between $115,536 and maximum of $141,751 pa. Starting salaries are to be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, as well as internal relativities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop solution architectures for business, infrastructure, and functional areas, aligning with enterprise standards.
- Create detailed design specifications and architectural plans for new systems and hardware.
- Deliver designs to support our network upgrade (SDWAN and SASE), cloud migration (Azure) and updates to our hybrid infrastructure design.
- Evaluate business requirements, recommend digital solutions, and present cost-benefit analyses.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Digital, Corporate Services, SMEs) and external stakeholders (vendors, government groups) to deliver projects.
- Assess emerging technologies, contribute to technology roadmaps, and support business case development.
About You
We are looking for a collaborative, tech-savvy professional with strong judgment and relationship-building skills. You should have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- 5+ years of relevant experience - this may include experience in architecture or other roles that contribute to the skills needed by a Digital Architect (e.g., information management, software development, network and/or infrastructure engineering, customer relationship management, etc.)
- Proven design and architectural skills, with experience in developing and maintaining design documentation.
- TOGAF certification and familiarity with the Government Enterprise Architecture NZ Capability Framework (desirable).
- Current knowledge of trends and emerging technologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including expertise in cost-benefit analysis and business case writing.
