About the Role
As a Kaitauhere - Employment Coordinator here at Te Whānau o Waipareira, you’ll walk alongside Māori whānau on their journey to sustainable employment and long-term wellbeing. You’ll empower whānau to overcome barriers, prepare for work, secure meaningful mahi, and stay in employment with the right wrap-around support.
This mahi is part of the Supporting Māori to Thrive in the Workplace programme, delivered by Te Whānau o Waipareira in partnership with Te Pae Herenga o Tāmaki. It is an opportunity to create generational change for Māori whanau and contribute directly to better futures.
Ngā kawenga | What You’ll Be Doing
As a Kaitauhere - Employment Coordinator here at Te Whānau o Waipareira, you’ll walk alongside Māori whānau on their journey to sustainable employment and long-term wellbeing. Ngā kawenga | What You’ll Be Doing
- Building strong, trusting relationships with whānau to understand aspirations and support their employment pathways
- Developing tailored Whānau Plans that address barriers and identify training, education, and skill-building opportunities
- Supporting whānau into employment and ensuring retention for at least 182 days
- Connecting with employers, community providers, and Te Pae Herenga o Tāmaki partners to create opportunities and strengthen networks
- Administering the MSD-funded Flexible Fund to provide support such as transport, training, medical, dental, or micro-credentials
- Monitoring and reporting on progress, placements, retention, and fund use to meet MSD requirements
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | What You’ll Bring
- At least 2 years’ experience supporting whānau into employment or similar pathways
- A full, clean NZ driver’s licence
- Confidence in engaging with whānau, employers, and community networks
- Strong reporting, fund administration, and case management skills
- Commitment to Te Reo me ngā Tikanga Māori, and experience in kaupapa Māori approaches
- Proven ability to maintain a caseload, meet placement targets, and provide pastoral care that supports long-term success
