  • Be part of the team that makes Auckland’s major events happen.
  • Build lasting relationships while helping organisers deliver outstanding events.

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Tātaki Auckland Unlimited (TAU) is a council-controlled organisation (CCO) with a mandate to drive investment, support Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland businesses to innovate and thrive, enhance Auckland as a culturally vibrant city, tell the Tāmaki Makaurau story, and importantly provide experiences and opportunities for all.

We are looking for an Operations Manager to play a critical role in the delivery of Auckland’s major festivals and events. This role will see you developing and implementing comprehensive event operations schedules, coordinating services and shared services, and ensuring that every aspect of event operations runs smoothly and safely.

From traffic management and site inductions to emergency response planning and post-event reviews, you’ll be the person on the ground making sure the festival experience is world-class.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Be the onsite representative at the festival event site throughout pack-in, event, and pack-out.
  • Manage site inductions, safe and compliant installation, and removal of infrastructure.
  • Oversee temporary structures, creative overlays, and operational activity in line with site plans and schedules.
  • Prepare technical documentation such as equipment lists, drawings, and engineering assessments.
  • Develop and oversee the Event Operations Plan (EOP).
  • Manage contractors and suppliers – from quotes through to invoices.
  • Create and lead the festival production and operational schedule.
  • Support initiatives around accessibility, inclusion, sustainability, and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver traffic management, security, signage, waste, and emergency response.
  • Lead post-event reviews and reporting to ensure continuous improvement.

He kōrero mōu: About you

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory and consenting processes
  • A focus on safety, compliance, and customer-first outcomes

Your background in event logistics and operations will mean you’re well-equipped to lead the planning, delivery, and wrap-up of Auckland’s iconic events.
