This role sits within our Community Partnerships, Funding and Events team. They are a passionate team of “doers” who are all about connection, they connect people to create awesome projects, events and outcomes for our community and they connect funding opportunities.
Our events team create community events which instill “pride of place” and activate spaces in our city. They undertake all event permitting in our public places, working closely with our community event applicants to meet all Council's safety and policy requirements. They spearhead our internal events, connecting staff at celebrations such as Staff Award evenings.

We are looking for an Events Coordinator to join our dynamic team – someone who’s passionate about planning and excited to support the delivery of unforgettable events.
Reporting to the Events and Activations Manager, you’ll be part of a fun, supportive and ambitious team who are passionate about Hamilton and its communities.
This role provides administration and coordination support to the Council-run events we deliver throughout the year. You’ll be the go-to person for event permitting, bookings, equipment hire, sourcing quotes and arranging payment.
Our team loves events - from playground openings to citizenship ceremonies, ANZAC Day and encouraging our community to have their say on Council’s proposals. In this role, you’ll be taking your first steps into the world of civic and community event management.

Qualifications

- At least two years’ of experience in a similar role.
- Great communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders (internal and external).
- Fantastic organisational, planning and project management skills.
- Great attention to detail, grammar, and an eye for design.
- Calm under pressure and able to work in a deadline driven environment.
- Flexible and available to work some weekends and evenings.
- Experience working with a diverse range of people.
