Current Vacancies

Head of Athletic Development

We have a vacancy to work with our Director of Co-curricular Activities to assist with the development and implementation of strength and conditioning programmes within multiple sports codes across the College. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the directors of the various codes to ensure that the specific strength and conditioning needs of each team are met. They will also participate in the design and implementation of injury prevention and rehabilitation programs, with a focus on sensible return to play protocols, and lead our Long Term Athlete Development programme. Ideally, the willingness to participate as a sport’s coach or manager could add weight to your application.

This is full time position for 40 hours per week. During term time, the work will be across the day at times to suit athletes, although over vacation periods, hours will be based around assisting with tours and events. The salary will be in the range of $70,000 to $75,000 per annum.

With a national and international reputation for excellence, Scots College is a world-class independent school with a strong Presbyterian Heritage. It is a fully co-education, IB World School in the eastern suburbs of Wellington, New Zealand, and comprises three schools in one: Junior (Years 1-6), Middle (Years 7-10), and Senior (Years 11-13). We provide our students with an excellent and holistic education within a vibrant learning environment with the aim of allowing them to contribute as global citizens who think creatively, reason critically, communicate effectively, and develop the necessary skills to learn. For life.

Key attributes of the successful candidate include:

  • An appropriate qualification
  • A demonstrated experience of at least two years in strength and conditioning work
  • Considerable experience coaching and programming in a high-performance sports environment
  • Holding a current First Aid certificate and being able to demonstrate training in emergency response
  • The ability to motivate athletes to achieve their maximum potential
  • Having training in nutrition and supplementation to support the performance of athletes
  • Be an excellent communicator, able to effect active cooperation and collaboration between directors, coaches, and athletes
