Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The University of Canterbury is seeking to fill a permanent, part-time academic post in its prestigious Child and Family Psychology programme, commencing January 2026. The successful candidate will be a highly experienced Child and Family Psychologist and teaching across the Masters of Science and Masters of Arts in Child and family Psychology, as well as the Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Family Psychology. We are looking for someone who is dedicated to training our future Child and Family Psychologists; and who shares our programme's philosophical emphases on cross-sectoral, inter-disciplinary and culturally-sensitive practice, within a scientist-practitioner framework.
Mōu | Who You Are
The successful candidate will have:
- Registration as a Psychologist in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
- At least 10 years post-registration experience as a Psychologist working with children, adolescents and/or families, with evidence of significant professional standing in your field of practice
- Leadership experience in a multi-disciplinary team, or other relevant clinical leadership and/or experience in senior clinical advisory roles
- Experience in lecturing in the area of child and family psychology
- Experience in course coordination at postgraduate level
- Practice and teaching experience within the field of child health psychology, preferably with experience in other sectors or practice areas as well
- Experience (and evidence of competence) in culturally appropriate practice with indigenous, ethnic minority and/or immigrant families
- Evidence of strong research and scholarship skills in a field relevant to child and family psychological practice
- A willingness to contribute to programmes of study are up to date and leading-edge, reflecting a depth and breadth of discipline expertise and are appropriately assessed through evidence-based quality assurance
- A commitment to UC values of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, tiaikitanga, and demonstrable commitment to and upholding of te Tiriti o Waitangi

This role sits within the Academic Staff, Associated Staff and Academic Support Staff Collective Agreement and the following salary scale applies: Lecturer (Teaching and Administration Only) (Grade 1.01 - 0.04) $70,258 p.a. - $123,687 p.a.
