About the Role
We have an exciting development opportunity for a midwife to assist in the co-ordination of our Maternity Quality and Safety Programme (MQSP). You will gain experience in a quality-focused role directly relevant to clinical care.
This is a high profile position within the service and links with other MQSP nationally.
You will work closely with the Director of Midwifery, Associate Directors of Midwifery, Clinical Leaders of Obstetrics and the Governance Group to support us in delivery of a well-established Quality Improvement programme across the Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district. The salary range for this role is MERAS MECA Step 4 $117,199 - $128,995 - pro rata.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing portfolios within the MQSP work programme
- Preparing monitoring reports and requested MQSP related documents
- Being accountable for up to three projects at any one time
- Engaging and liaising across staff the WHS and district, LMCs, consumers, other MQSP Coordinators
- Attending and contributing to Central Region MQSP meetings and innovations
- Contributing at a planning level to effect service engagement, equity and excellence
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our MQSP is governed by consumers, LMC representatives, clinicians and managers. A comprehensive work programme is in place with a well monitored action plan. Quality is supported by another three part-time MQSP Coordinators who coordinate the maternity quality safety programme. Wellington Hospital is the main location however travel may be required to work from other sites.
About you
Skills and experience:
- Registration as a qualified midwife with a current APC with no restrictions
- A comprehensive knowledge of the New Zealand maternity system
- Recent experience in in primary, secondary and tertiary maternity care
- Strong, clear communication skills with the ability to influence
- Capacity to innovate; inspire and motivate others
- Good analysis and project management capability
- A collaborative approach and able to work well with colleagues
- Management experience of clinical teams, with sound computer skills
- Sensitivity and knowledge of working within culturally diverse populations
