About the role:
Lead the transformation of our operational technology systems as we advance toward a smarter, more sustainable energy grid. You'll oversee SCADA and Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), enhancing network reliability and efficiency while helping shape the energy future of our region.
Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you'll maintain and enhance our smart grid infrastructure, support real-time systems, and champion continuous improvement across our operational technology environment. Your role encompasses administering our ADMS, configuring Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) and SCADA controls, leading communications infrastructure implementation, ensuring data integrity and system reliability.
What You Need to Succeed:
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering
- Minimum 2 years' experience with ADMS and/or SCADA systems
Desirable
- Electrical Registration
- Experience in database querying
- Experience with communication networks and SCADA protocols
The Ideal Candidate
- Demonstrated experience supporting or delivering operational technology (OT) – SCADA and/or ADMS
- Knowledge of the New Zealand electricity distribution sector or related industry experience
- Solid understanding of real-time systems, data integration, and field device communications
- Proficient in SCADA systems and common protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, and IEC 61850
- Experience in integrating network models and asset data into OT platforms
- Strong collaborator who works effectively across technical and operational teams
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a practical, solutions-focused mindset
