The Principal Adviser Finance Systems and Reporting plays a key role in enabling Ara Poutama Aotearoa's Finance team to deliver trusted, high-quality financial advice that supports strategic decision-making across the organisation.
Reporting to the Director Finance Systems and Reporting, you will lead the development of standardised reporting frameworks, drive automation and continuous improvement, and ensure the integrity and usability of financial data. You'll design and maintain reporting tools and dashboards that provide timely, accurate insights to support planning, forecasting, and performance analysis.
This role works closely with finance, IT, and business units to translate complex needs into effective reporting solutions. You'll promote consistency in reporting standards, build real-time reporting capability, and maintain strong controls to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
As a subject matter expert, you'll also support and train teams across the organisation to use reporting tools confidently and interpret financial information with clarity. To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience leading finance system and reporting improvements across complex environments.
- Advanced financial and analytical skills, with expertise in tools such as SAP, SAC, SAS and Power BI.
- Strong ability to translate business needs into technical reporting solutions that drive insight and performance.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with a track record of influencing across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Deep understanding of financial systems, modelling, and public sector processes, with a focus on data integrity and continuous improvement.

The midpoint of the salary range is $125,601 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $125,601 - $177,318 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
