As a Product Owner in one of our high-performing Agile teams, you will play a pivotal role in delivering strategic, customer-led transformation across Suncorp New Zealand’s portfolio. Your team is at the heart of value delivery, focused on Product and proposition changes that uplift customer and business value – balancing governance, and return on investment to ensure we make meaningful progress where it matters most.
But your impact doesn’t stop there. As a key connector across the business, you’ll collaborate closely with Tribe and Delivery Leads, Senior Business Leaders other Product Owners, and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Together, you’ll define, prioritise, and deliver the most valuable epics that shape the Team Backlog you will own – driving outcomes that are strategically aligned, fit-for-purpose, and future-focused.
This is a 10-month contract opportunity.
What you’ll do
- Backlog refinement and preparation for quarterly planning, including significant involvement in planning events.
- Work with the Tribe Lead to ensure that the right Product and Solutions are created.
- Update the team backlog and typically reviews and collaborates with the Tribe Leads to contribute to the Vision, Roadmap and content presentations ahead of the quarter.
- Collaborate and manages dependencies with other Product Owners.
- Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders, SMEs and Business Delivery to ensure a smooth transition and delivery for the end user/customer.
- Participate in team demonstrations, ceremonies and retrospectives and may present in communications forums.
What you’ll bring
- 2+ years in a Product Owner role
- Extensive experience in the NZ financial services market environment ideally within a General Insurance context
- Proven delivery track record of tackling and delivering against complex problems
- Proven experience in influential leadership, consultation and negotiation
- Experience with Agile change delivery practises
- High level of flexibility and pragmatism with the ability to adapt to change
- Ability to problem-solve and manage conflicting priorities
- Excellent presentation and stakeholder management skills
