Downer’s Energy & Utilities business is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of mobile network build projects across the Auckland region. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role plays a critical part in our telecommunications operations, ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This is a key leadership position within a collaborative and results-driven team, where you'll be overseeing a variety of mobile build activities and managing subcontractors, while maintaining strong client relationships. This role is based in Auckland with a hybrid working arrangement and supports major telecommunications contracts vital to New Zealand’s digital infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of mobile build projects, including planning, scheduling, and financial oversight.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of work in progress, job costs, and project risks.
- Lead subcontractor management and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and legislative standards.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, providing updates on job status and performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to contract margin performance.

What We’re Looking For
- Proven leadership experience in telecommunications or mobile network project delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors and large-scale job scheduling.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing scope, budget, and performance metrics.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project scheduling tools such as MS Project.
