About us

Anderson Lloyd is a large New Zealand law firm founded more than 160 years ago. The firm now has 28 partners and over 160 staff. Anderson Lloyd's success is thanks to the quality of our people. It is our expertise and passion that delivers great results for our clients. Our values define us and we are looking to align with like-minded people to help lead the legal profession into a brighter, more sustainable future.

Anderson Lloyd is the first large law firm to earn Toitū net carbonzero accreditation and is a certified Living Wage Employer. We are also recognised by NZ Lawyer as a 5-Star Employer of Choice.

Anderson Lloyd is also a regular award winner at the New Zealand Law Awards.
We do everything in our power to develop, encourage and support our people. Within our offices in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Ōtautahi Christchurch, Ōtepoti Dunedin and Tāhuna Queenstown, we take pride in our culture of high-quality work, flexibility, inclusivity and collaborative achievement.

About the role

Based in Ōtepoti Dunedin, you’ll be part of a well-established team with over 20 lawyers, led by Partners Vanessa Robb and Sharon Knowles. You'll work on a broad range of complex, high-value matters for premium clients across Aotearoa.

As part of a connected and collaborative team supporting both property and private client workstreams, you'll play a key role in delivering outstanding results for our clients. Whether you're already specialised and keen to deepen your expertise in one area, or enjoy working across both disciplines, you’ll contribute to high-quality outcomes for our clients.

About you

We’re looking for lawyers with a minimum of 7 years’ practical experience in private client and/or property law. In return, we offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package, and you’ll work alongside highly respected professionals, with the support to continue developing your skills and grow your leadership.

Careers in Dunedin

Whether you’re already based in Ōtepoti Dunedin or considering a move for the right opportunity, we’d be happy to discuss relocation support with the right candidate.

Our Property & Private Client team is proudly Dunedin-based and for good reason. Dunedin offers the perfect balance: a thriving legal career alongside an unbeatable lifestyle.

Here, you’ll enjoy the benefits of a big-city legal practice without the hustle and crowds. Our legal community is strong and supportive, offering opportunities for complex, high-quality work and genuine professional development. With regular networking events and strong ties to major centres like Auckland and Wellington, you’ll stay connected to the broader legal landscape.

Nestled between heritage architecture and the stunning Otago Peninsula, Dunedin makes it easy to lead a healthy, balanced life. With an average 15-minute commute, your weekends can be spent hiking, biking, or enjoying water sports not stuck in traffic. The city also offers excellent schools and a more affordable cost of living than larger centres, making it a great choice for families and individuals alike.

Despite its size, Dunedin is culturally rich with vibrant street art, galleries, museums, theatres and a buzzing food and coffee scene. But what truly sets it apart is its people: friendly, down-to-earth, and deeply connected.

Make your next career move somewhere you can thrive, at work and in life.

How to apply

If this sounds like you and you’re ready to take the next step in your legal career, we’d love to hear from you. For a confidential conversation about this fantastic opportunity, please contact either Rach Fahey at [email protected] or Kelly Pankhurst at [email protected].

We are committed to providing equitable employment opportunities. We recognise that people from varying backgrounds bring valuable diversity through a range of worthwhile ideas and innovations to their working practices and business. Encouraging everyone at the firm to respect the individuality of their colleagues and to feel comfortable in making their own contribution is part of their values and critical to our business success.

We seek to provide equal opportunities to people from all backgrounds in recruitment and selection, terms and conditions of employment (including pay, promotion and training) and in their approach to every other aspect of employment.
