Are you an experienced and talented Solution Architect looking for an exciting opportunity to work on a strategically significant programme? BNZ is seeking a skilled professional to join our Solution Architecture Practice and contribute to the success of the Digital Modernisation Programme, one of our top Technology priorities. Our Solution Architecture Practice is dedicated to designing and implementing innovative solutions that drive enterprise value. Our team operates across all facets of BNZ’s technology landscape, ensuring that our solutions are scalable, secure, and tailored to meet specific requirements. From integrating cutting-edge innovations to managing complex systems, we strive to balance business needs with technical excellence, connecting all the necessary elements seamlessly. This is an Auckland back hybrid role with Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the office.

What are 5 day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete?
This will be a busy and varied role, offering opportunities to work across multiple digital workstreams and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders:
- Solution Design & Documentation – Develop and maintain high-level solution designs, data models, and architecture patterns that support unified digital experiences.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Advisory – Engage with digital, data, and technology teams to align solution designs with business and customer needs.
- Architecture Alignment & Practice Engagement – Collaborate with the Enterprise Architect to ensure strategic alignment with target state architecture, promote adoption of standards and guidelines, and maintain consistent stakeholder engagement and knowledge sharing.
- Technical Oversight & Governance – Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and compliance requirements.
- Supporting Delivery Teams – Work closely with engineers, analysts, and product owners to ensure solutions are implemented according to design and resolve architectural challenges.

What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?
The candidate will be primarily focused on the Digital Modernisation Programme, which includes workstreams such as unified mobile and web experiences, modular architecture enablement, and omnichannel orchestration. This work will continue into the next year with increasing scope and strategic visibility.

The most challenging aspect of this opportunity will be navigating the complex dependencies across mobile and web platforms, ensuring seamless integration of multiple workstreams, and delivering innovative solutions that align with BNZ's strategic goals.
What technical skills are required for this role?
The role requires strong technical skills in solution architecture, including experience with enterprise-level digital platforms, modular architecture, and omnichannel delivery. You’ll need proficiency in designing and implementing complex solutions, knowledge of mobile-first strategies, cloud-native architectures, and regulatory compliance. Familiarity with enterprise APIs, experience APIs, mobile apps (iOS and Android) patterns, and experience working in Agile environments is also essential.
