Te Āheinga - The Opportunity
- Maintain and prepare high-quality sportsgrounds across Napier, operating machinery and performing essential turf care tasks to ensure playing surfaces meet national standards and are ready for cricket, rugby, football, and community events.
- Work outdoors in an active, hands-on role that develops your skills in turf management and equipment operation, while taking pride in delivering visible results that directly support local sports and recreation.
- Collaborate with a supportive, close-knit team and build positive relationships with sportsground users and the wider community, contributing to a welcoming and well-maintained environment.
He kōrero mōhou - About You
- NECA Level 1 or equivalent education and a full, current driver’s licence.
- Hands-on familiarity with sports like cricket, rugby, or football and understand their turf needs.
- Calm under pressure, a clear communicator, and ready to engage positively with the public and sports users.
- You bring an attention to detail and consistently deliver high-quality work.
- Multi-skilled, physically fit, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

This is a fixed term opportunity from September to April 2026 (eight months). You will work 42.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday) across Napier's sportsgrounds.
Remuneration for this role is between $25.72-$27.91 per hour.
