About the Role
As the Technical Services Manager you will lead the engineering and energy functions across the Te Waipounamu Region. This is a senior leadership role within our Infrastructure and Investment Group (IIG)and will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all infrastructure assets, including building systems, plant, and equipment.
You will oversee a team of technical specialists and work collaboratively with national and regional stakeholders to deliver engineering design and development, especially building controls and automation. . Your scope will include asset lifecycle planning, capital works assurance, maintenance strategy, and sustainability initiatives.
This role is central to ensuring that our facilities are not only fit for purpose today but are sustainable and ready for future communities, shaping how technical services support equitable, high quality healthcare across the region.

The IIG team are focused on delivering high-impact infrastructure investments that support the transformation of New Zealand's health system. Giving support, oversight and assurance across projects and programmes, they understand that safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are essential for a well-functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders
About you
You're a seasoned technical leader with a deep expertise in engineering, energy, and infrastructure operations. You bring a strategic mindset, a collaborative approach, and a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
You've led complex programmes across multiple disciplines and you're confident navigating regulatory frameworks, managing budgets, and presenting technical information to diverse audiences. You're passionate about sustainability and understand how your teams success plays a vital role in contributing to safe and reliable healthcare in Aotearoa.
You will bring:
- 10+ years in technical leadership roles within complex environments
- Proven ability to lead high performing teams and work collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders
- Strong knowledge of building systems and their controls, mechanical and electrical infrastructure, and asset lifecycle management
- Undergraduate degree in engineering,
- Experience working in multicultural and diverse environments, with a strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022
