At Whakaata Māori, we embrace our role as a waka, driven by our passion to preserve and promote Māori stories, language, and culture. And right now, we are seeking an experienced Tumu Taupae | Delivery and Governance Manager to join us on this journey of transformational change.
Tumu Taupae refers to the ridgeline that connects high points — symbolising this role’s function as the stabiliser and connector across strategic kaupapa. In this role, you will ensure that the waka remains steady and aligned by anchoring the systems and rhythms that support delivery and governance across Whakaata Māori.
The Tumu Taupae provides senior operational support to the Pou Arorangi | Strategic Delivery Lead by owning the routines, tools, and workflows that keep performance visible and decision-making well-informed. Tumu Taupae is the powerhouse behind smooth reporting, hui coordination, and governance outputs — ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with strategic intent.
You will be responsible for tracking delivery and performance, governance and leadership reporting, coordinating hui and planning and ensuring internal collaboration and alignment between planning and delivery. You will also work collaboratively with other leaders and stakeholders, ensuring internal collaboration and alignment between planning and delivery to ensure our waka remains aligned, connected, and purposeful as we move towards the future.
The successful candidate will have deep expertise in delivery tracking, coordination, and governance reporting. You will also be confident navigating complex workstreams and have strong verbal and written communication for leadership audiences. A strong command of te reo me ngā tikanga Māori, and the ability to apply these confidently in day-to-day work along with an understanding of kaupapa Māori governance practises is important.
This is a 12-month fixed term role, and it may evolve as Whakaata Māori progresses its organisational realignment and delivery transformation.
