Bay Venues …. Haven’t heard of us? Not to worry; I bet you have heard of some of the venues we own or operate – the iconic Mount Hot Pools, Baywave, or Mercury Baypark to name a few. As the kaitiaki of 24 facilities in Tauranga Moana, we proudly offer a range of activities and experiences intended to put a smile on the dial of our community.
Here at Bay Venues, we are all about ensuring we create memorable moments - and we do so intentionally through connection and fun with each other and our community. Our values of Manaakitanga (Service), Whakawhanaungatanga (Relationships), Kaitiakitanga (Caring) and He Toi Tangata (Excellence) are lived on the daily as we strive to enhance the wellbeing of the people we serve. It’s no small feat, but we know that when we facilitate connections and collaborate with others, great things will happen!
Love sports and seeing events come to life? Join us at Mercury Baypark and lead the charge in delivering unforgettable community sports, activities and events!
About the Role:
Reporting to the Venue and Events Delivery Manager, the Venue & Event Delivery Lead makes sure the venue is delivered to plan, ultimately producing excellent customer and user experiences.
The Events team promotes, sells, plans, and delivers community sports, activities, and events. As part of the small but mighty Event Delivery Team, you will work closely with other teams under our events umbrella (AV, Operations, Planning, and Sales) and alongside our Community Sports team.
You’ll need to be masterful at collaboration weaving together all the moving parts for our key stakeholders whilst delivering the venue and working closely with our league organisers, coaches, umpires, venue hirers, clients, and colleagues.
The role takes charge of the venue requiring meticulous pre-planning behind the scenes, takes an active lead with ensuring health and safety, prioritises customer satisfaction, and leading cross-functional teams’ working together.
If you had worked with us over the last little while, here’s some of the things you would have been doing:
- Taken an active role and have engaged with the Venue Operations Centre for events/ large sporting activities
- Worked with event planning and delivery team colleagues to get ahead of preparations for events and other venue activity.
- Supported the team with mid-week sports league activity, while arranging event set ups in other spaces.
- Played a key role in pre-event emergency and incident scenario training.
- Served as the first point of contact for clients on event days.
- Worked the floor enjoying the buzz of getting ready for a great New Years Eve gig for 5,000 guests. Been part of the team getting ready to present our summer series of events or have been genuinely intrigued on how we put everything together.
About You:
An energetic person with a great eye for detail, and who has a genuine commitment to and solid proven experience in providing top notch customer experiences.
You will be well organised with great attention to detail, have a can-do attitude and ability to think on your feet, love being part of a busy team, and understand the importance of health and safety for a large complex venue. As our sports and events don’t keep regular hours, this role will work predominantly evenings and weekends is based on an 80-hour fortnight meaning you could have a long week followed by a short week to balance out your hours. We’re all about finding the right person to join our team and so would consider part-time hours to work in with you.
Finally, you will have experience in team supervisor leadership roles, and ideally be familiar with sports teams and leagues, event management systems or at least a real desire to learn.
We have put together a bunch of perks to support our culture of connection and fun. Ones that reinforce that we are part of the awesome leisure and events industry, and all the magic that comes along with that. Our benefits include:
- a gym membership to our Clubfit Gyms,
- access to our five aquatic facilities including Baywave and Mount Hot Pools,
- subsidised speedway passes and generous discounts on our programmes, services and merchandise,
- heavily subsidised coffee at our on-site cafes,
So why not join us? We have the right purpose to fuel meaningful careers, the right attitude to support work life balance, and the right leadership to foster an amazing culture. No matter your age and stage you may be, we are an inclusive bunch all driven by our vision of creating The Best Venues for the Bay. Come on – take the punt; you won’t regret it!
