We're looking for an energetic and skilled Web Communications Advisor to join Oranga Tamariki's Content and Channels team within the Communications Group.

Mo te tunga | About the role

You'll thrive in a busy communications environment, working well with others, and making sound judgments with a strong focus on best web practices.

Under the direction of the Content and Channel Manager and Senior Web Advisor you will engage and support business stakeholders with their web-based needs. You will provide content design, creation, copyediting and best practice web advice for content and publications on our websites.

Your advice and web content skills will reflect our organisation's aims. You will support delivery of outcomes through best practice to strengthen relationships and grow public confidence.

This is a 12-month fixed term or secondment approximately, full-time position based in Wellington.

Ng pumanawatanga ou | What you will bring

Ideal candidates have two-to-three years of government communications experience. Some key requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Proven experience in web content writing, editing and design - delivering quality advice and products
  • Excellent skills in editing copy for web and use of plain language
  • Strong grasp of web standards and applying best practices
  • Prior experience creating digestible content of complex information
  • Strong communication skills, including core understandings of organisational communications and social media
  • Ability to establish positive relationships and manage complex working relationships within and outside of government confidentially
  • Knowledge of supporting accessible documents and content
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices, particularly tikanga M ori and Pacific peoples' culture
