Company Description

Hamilton City Libraries is a business unit of the Community Services group. There are seven library sites within the city; Central Library is located in Garden Place in the CBD and our community libraries are located at Chartwell, Dinsdale, Hillcrest, Glenview, St Andrews and Rototuna.

Hamilton City Libraries have an exciting, opportunity for someone to organise, create and deliver events and programming (educational or social workshops, classes and initiatives) for the community of Kirikiriroa.

Job Description

This role will develop and deliver on a wide range of programmes that support our communities, with a focus on digital literacy and inclusion. You will also assist with promotion and communication planning and delivery across a variety of different media platforms.

You will need a high standard of written communication skills, excellent information search skills and a 'can do' attitude. Experience with the latest technologies including social media, plus the ability to assist with the development and delivery of online learning content would be advantageous for this exciting position.

  • Collaborate with a team to activate all seven Hamilton City Library locations.
  • Engage stakeholders and maintain positive relationships.
  • Assist with promotional content across a variety of media platforms.

This is a full time, Monday to Friday role with some weekend work required but we support work life balance here at Council and arrangements around hours can be made with your manager.

Qualifications

Oo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience

  • Knowledge of Tikanga Maaori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi along with the ability to confidently speak in public, with an understanding of cultural identity, the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience, within libraries or a related sector.
  • 3 years’ experience in service or programme development / experience in the design, planning and facilitation of activities, events, and initiatives.
  • Skills and the ability to relate well to a wide diversity of people in a personalised way.
