Mo te tūranga | About the Roles:
ASB's Financial Crime Projects Team has a wide remit across Financial Crime, with a particular focus on Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT).
The team works to identify, assess, report and manage activity relating to money laundering and terrorism financing, ensuring the financial safety of our customers. Ideally you will have previous experience in the field, but we really want you to bring your strong Analytics skills and ability to translate these into insights for a variety of audiences, ability to draft and interpret business and technical requirements, and the capability to maintain strong stakeholder relationships across a range of teams.
We have an exciting opportunity in the Financial Crime Projects area to support the delivery and maintenance of models key to ASB managing its financial crime risks and meeting its regulatory commitments.
This role will ensure ASB is correctly identifying, assessing and responding to key financial crime risks, and ensuring we keep ASB and our customers safe. This role will report to the Head of Financial Crime Projects, and will be responsible for:
- Ensuring ASB's Financial Crime models are fit for purpose and align to design specifications.
- Liaising with key stakeholders to progress model enhancements.
- Translating requirements into solutions that can be operational for the purposes of meeting regulatory requirements/expectations.
- Being a key connector between our technical teams and FCC/business teams.
- Ensuring the controls supporting Financial Crime models are documented and operating effectively.

- An analytical and investigative approach to problem solving.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Previous project and change management experience would be an advantage.
- Financial Crime and/or Fraud knowledge is preferable but not essential.
- Exposure to the rigors and requirements of working in a regulated industry.
- Ability to balance between project and BAU work.
- Strong strategic mindset with analytical skills.
- Proficient Excel skills and report writing.
- Knowledge of SQL query building and execution preferable.
- Experience with/knowledge of GDW or similar.
- Tertiary qualification in Financial, Economic, and statistical disciplines would be an advantage.
