Te Whānau O Waipareira
Henderson-Massey, Auckland
Full time

About the Role

Are you an experienced housing professional who’s ready to do more than manage tenancies? Join Te Whānau o Waipareira and help whānau move from crisis to stability through practical housing support, advocacy, and wrap-around care.

We’re looking for a confident and compassionate Housing Navigator who understands the real-world pressures whānau face - arrears, evictions, transitional housing, emergency accommodation, system overload.

As Housing Kaiārahi, you’ll walk with whānau to resolve these challenges, stabilise their living situations, and strengthen long-term housing outcomes. You’ll build whānau-led housing plans, broker services, and work in step with other providers.

This is frontline work with a kaupapa Māori approach. No two days are the same, and your mahi will leave a legacy.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead housing support plans for whānau facing tenancy risk or housing instability
  • Connect whānau with housing providers, emergency housing, and legal support
  • Navigate WINZ, Kainga Ora, and community housing systems with whānau
  • Build relationships with landlords, caseworkers, and community services
  • Help deliver the Sustaining Tenancies programme and reduce homelessness
  • Report on outcomes, risks, and progress using our whānau-centred systems
What You’ll Bring
  • 2+ years in housing, tenancy, homelessness services or social housing
  • Knowledge of the residential tenancy system, housing policy or Kāinga Ora
  • Strong case management, advocacy and service navigation skills
  • Experience working with Māori communities or kaupapa Māori organisations
  • Relevant qualification in housing, social work, or similar (preferred)
  • Full, clean NZ driver’s licence is required
Why Waipareira?

At Te Whānau o Waipareira, you’ll work in a values-driven team that walks the talk. We’re grounded in Te Ao Māori and committed to creating change that lasts. Here’s what we offer:
  • A tight-knit housing team with skilled, experienced kaimahi
  • Professional development and upskilling in the whānau ora space
  • Central Henderson location, close to public transport and amenities
  • A chance to work with purpose and pride, every single day
